CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
“From Flip to Swipe”
We are now accepting works for this year’s SOX Zine Fest!
Now in its fourth year, SOX Zine Fest is an annual gathering of creators, readers, and supporters of zines and independent publications in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region. The first three installments were held in General Santos City, Koronadal City, and Tacurong City, in cooperation with local organizations and agencies.
In compliance with quarantine protocols and for everyone’s safety, this year’s SOX Zine Fest will be held online from 30 November to 4 December 2020. The zines will also be made accessible for FREE throughout the entire duration of the event.
If you’re interested to include your work, here are the guidelines for participation:
SOX Zine Fest is open to all interested participants, regardless of their background. We prioritize individuals and groups from SOCCSKSARGEN but we welcome those from other places, especially from the neighboring areas.
Participants may choose any topic/theme and language for their zines. We also accept other types of independent and alternative publications (e.g., self-published books, small press publications, among others). The zines and publications, however, should be sent as a PDF or any other file format (e.g., if your work is a video or voice recording).
Participants must confirm their participation on or before 20 November 2020 by sending an email to soxzinefest@gmail.com. The email should contain the cover and brief description of the work, the actual file of the work, and the short bio-note of the participant/s.
We will not collect any registration fee for this year’s SOX Zine Fest. But please note that by confirming your participation, you agree to have your work accessible for free (but not downloadable) throughout the entire duration of the event. We will also save a copy of your work for archival purposes.
We will ensure a safe and fair environment for all individuals during the conduct of SOX Zine Fest. We shall properly deal with reports of violation.
Questions, concerns, and suggestions can be emailed to soxzinefest@gmail.com and addressed to the Zine Fest Director, Gerald Galindez.
