Hello friends, thanks for being patient while the Pen Fight website was offline while I gave it a huge update, but now we’re back!
Here’s what’s new:
- A brand new layout; goodbye pink and swishy, hello dark and pixely
- All the information pages have been given a refresh
- All the resource pages have also been updated
- The shop has new filtering features – hopefully this will make it easier to find things
- Items with missing images or information have been fixed
- Zines and other items have new-and-matching images
- A new Sliding Scale page, to help explain the sliding scale pricing options
What’s still to come:
I was hoping to get everything done in one month but it turned into a bigger job than I expected! So there’s a few things that will be happening in the coming weeks
- The return of international postage options
- Making badges easier to find by size
- More updates to finding items by theme
- New resource guides
- A few extra cosmetic details
In Other News…
Now I can come out of my studio-cave of a month of being hunched over my keyboard, I’m starting to look towards the rest of 2026 and where I’ll be taking Pen Fight next.
- Events: I’m slowly starting to book things in, the next will be at the brand-new Brums Queer Market on February 28th. I’ll also be returning to Glasgow Zine Fest on May 23rd-24th.
- As the Pen Fight 10th Birthday celebrations couldn’t go ahead last November, they’ll be re-arranged for some time later in 2026. In the meantime that means the Call for Entries for the zine are now still open till announced otherwise.
- Trans Day of Having A Nice Book will be on hiatus for this year but will definitely return for 2027.
- I’d love to bring Manchester Zine Club, or Queer Craft Club back this year… or maybe even start a badge club? 👀 if you have any leads on free venues around Manchester City Centre or around Gorton, get in touch.
- I’ve updated the Zine Events Calendar – with 2 lovely queer zine fests going on this month – Fife Queer Zine Fest and Brixton Library LGBTQ+ zine fair. Go check them out if you’re nearby either.
