Shy Bairns will be running a workshop using collage materials and a risograph printer, aiming to create a collaborative zine loosely based around themes of community and local identity.
Shy Bairns is multi-disciplinary collective specialising in DIY arts publications. Their first publication in their self titled series, The Only Pizza Shop Where I Live Burnt Down, was released December 2016, with a second,Where’s Your Coat You’re Going To Be Cold, following in April 2017. Both zines intended to gather northern creatives together on one platform, creating a community regardless of medium, level, background or theme. Other past projects involve curated shows at Caustic Coastal, Manchester and online @ isthisit.com, alongside zine making workshops ran for Middlesbrough Art Weekender 2017. Shy Bairns usually print in muti-coloured riso unless they absolutely can not do that then will reluctantly roll their eyes and print like normies. Shy Bairns consists of Erin Blamire, Izzy Kroese, Georgia Gibson and Elle Haswell. All creatives involved can be found here.
Zine Club is a space where anyone can read, make zines, collaborate, be shown what a zine is and how to make one, work on an existing project, or ask more seasoned zine-makers any practical questions.
Just come and have a nice hang out and a chat with us! Zines to read and materials will be provided, but feel free to bring along anything you might want to use or donate.
All welcome. Zine Club is FREE but donations will be very welcome to cover materials and to raise money for Partisan. Pop and (vegan friendly) snacks will be available.
