Zine Afternoon at Putney Library

7th May 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Zines (or fanzines) are self-published pamphlets/magazines and can be about any topic. They are made using cut and paste techniques, and photocopying. This afternoon of zines invites zine readers and anyone who is curious to come and immerse themselves in zines! The afternoon include stalls of zines to browse and buy: across topics such as music, gardening, travel, health, feminism, politics, as well as comics. There will also be talks, including with feminist-punk zine writer, Nina of Echo Publishing in Belgium who is travelling over for the event. Zine writer and eating disorder activist Vicky Smith will be joining us. We will also be joined by Brazilian zine writer Tali who recently had an arts residency at the Grow Heathrow green community project. There will be an exhibition of zine work from across the years by Fliss Collier, who has been making zines/fanzines since 1996: the exhibition celebrates her 20th anniversary with zines.
