Girl Gang Manchester: See My Selfie //Exhibition & Zine Launch

Exactly one year ago, Girl Gang Manchester & Girl Gang Sheffield set 31 online provocations aimed at exploring the contentious nature of ‘the selfie’ as a vehicle for self representation. Over 200 voices replied.
Now, the #SeeMySelfie project is presented as an exhibition and a stunning zine. This documentation of different voices and varied opinions provides a snapshot of online image vs the person behind the filter, while bringing this new community from phone screens to the real world.
Photography, visual art, zines and interactive elements – come and have a drink with us and add your voice to this project!

#SeeMySelfie was a month long social experiment exploring self portraiture, self representation and self-acceptance run by Girl Gang Manchester and GIRL GANG Sheffield in May 2016.
Girl Gang Manchester is a collective of female artists, creatives, thinkers and doers who run immersive screenings, workshops, parties, skill sharing sessions and socials, to create a community of people of all genders in Manchester promoting creativity, collaboration, confidence and positivity, that helps inspire and support women to succeed in life, work and society.
