Exhibition of Illustrated Women in History

9th April 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 21st April 2016 @ 5:00 pm

Julie Gough is a graphic designer, illustrator and art teacher based in Bristol. Her Illustrated Women in History series began after the news broke about a Jack the Ripper museum in London which was due to open. The museum had been granted permission to open in order to celebrate women in history, and to have changed this to celebrate someone who brutally murdered women instead was outrageous. It made her think about how much she actually knew about women in history, and apart from a few names she knew very little. So she decided that it was important to learn about some of the women that have contributed to, and shaped our history and celebrate their achievements by illustrating them.

She will be exhibiting selected illustrations from the series at HOURS with a DJ set by FAN CLUB. Illustrated Women in History prints, postcards and zines will be available as well as FAN CLUB zines.

Public Launch event April 9th 5-9 pm.
Public opening times: Sunday 10th April 10am-4pm and by arrangement, until April 21st. Free
