We welcome back Laydeez do Comics for their March meeting, with guests Corrine Pearlman and One Beat Zines.
Laydeez do Comics is a unique graphic novel forum with a focus on comic works based on life narrative, the drama of the domestic and the everyday – and we’re delighted to be hosting their London sessions during our Comix Creatrix: 100 Women Making Comics exhibition.
Corrine Pearlman is an illustrator, comics creator, and Creative Director of independent publisher Myriad Editions. She has produced editorial comics for charities, a regular strip for the Jewish Quarterly, and is a Partner in Comic Company, which produces comics-illustrated health information.
Julia Scheele and Sarah Broadhurst run One Beat Zines, a London-based feminist zine-making collective and distributor that aims to distribute cheap-and-cheerful zines by people with something to say, in a wide variety of forms including comics, essays, photography, poetry, fiction, and collage. Find them on Twitter.
This is a free event but booking is essential – please email rsvp@houseofillustration.org.uk to reserve your place, and keep an eye on our Twitter or subscribe to our e-newsletter for announcements of future Ladydeez do Comics events at House of Illustration.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to see our current exhibition Comix Creatrix: 100 Women Making Comics for a special ticket price of £5, payable on the night.
