DESCRIPTION:When\n19 September 2019 – 20 September 2019\n12:00-7:00pm each day \nPrice: Free \n\nDescription\nZines\, or fanzines\, are self-published material made for little money and distributed cheaply. Their focus is not on profit\, but rather they have historically been used as a tool of political resistance\, often circumventing traditional publishing and distributing standards\, giving a voice to the underrepresented and marginalized. Though zines were forged in the fires of oppression\, they grew and expanded to other subcultures\, such as punk and Riot Grrrl\, science fiction writers\, comic makers\, artists and designers\, in addition to their foundation of anti-fascism\, anti-racism\, and anti-sexism. \nJoin Disability Arts Online in creating a zine based on the themes of this year’s Sick! Festival. Materials and prompts will be provided\, as well as a selection of zines to flip through for inspiration and enjoyment. This is an all-day event\, and all are welcome to drop in and out and create as many pages as desired. \nFind out more about Sick! Festival.
