SUMMARY:The 8th Bristol Anarchist Bookfair
DESCRIPTION:The 8th Bristol Anarchist Bookfair – Building An Anarchist Future – at Trinity Centre\, Trinity Rd\, Bristol BS2 0NW\, with the Radical History Zone just 5 minutes down the road at Hydra Bookshop. You are all invited to Bristol & the south west’s largest explicitly radical political event! Entry is free/donations welcome. \nExpect 60+ tables of Stalls\, numerous meetings/talks/discussion workshops\, anarchist art display\, all-day vegan cafe\, kids space\, a quiet (support) room\, and outdoor green space. Plus an After-Party in the evening. \nThe Theme: “If capitalism collapsed tomorrow would we be ready? It’s hard to plan for an uncertain future\, as we don’t know how things will play out. Nor is it realistic to think there will ever be a point where we will have reached our destination or ideal utopia. \nHowever\, we can work on building our resilience & solidarity & co-operation\, experimenting with different ways of organising\, exchanging skills & resources\, growing food & sustainability\, dealing with conflict\, and so on. \nThe aim of this year’s Bookfair is to focus on the future…as capital’s global crisis deepens and conflicts escalate\, with disastrous consequences for humanity & the planet\, the need for lasting social revolution has never been greater…the future is bright IF the future is anarchism!”

SUMMARY:Off-Skates Dates: Festival of Debate Screen Printing and Zine Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:**PAY WHAT YOU WANT!** \n**SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES / COMPLETE BEGINNERS** \n** Drop in any time between 12 – 4pm on Saturday16 April at the Moor Theatre Deli ** \nAfter the stomping success of the last screen printing workshop\, Sheffield Steel Rollergirls and Edge Of The Universe Printing Press have teamed up to bring you more crafty opportunities! Following on from our film screening and panel debate on Thursday\, come and explore the themes of women\, the media and sport – or just have fun being crafty for an afternoon. \nDrop into the Moor Theatre Deli on Saturday 16 April between 12-4pm\, and learn how to create and print your own incredible designs – which you’ll then get to take home. \nInks\, paper\, and printing equipment will be provided\, as well as advice and assistance. You’re also welcome to bring along tee shirts\, tote bags\, or anything you’d else like to get printed. Get creative! \nThere will also be the chance to create zines with SSRG’s very own Kandy Diamond\, producer of I Don’t Bruise Easy\, a roller derby zine. \nThis drop-in workshop will operate on a PAY WHAT YOU WANT basis. That’s because we want to give everyone the chance to try out the activities. Often\, screen printing can be expensive\, studio-bound\, or both of these things – meaning not many people get to give it a go. We want to change that\, and give everyone the chance to try this fantastic\, creative activity! In order to cover the costs of EUPP’s equipment\, we’re asking for a suggested donation of £4 per person \n…. But this is only a suggestion! We won’t pressure you to tip\, and any money you want to give us should be in direct proportion to the quality of the workshop\, the number of prints you make\, and your personal budget. \nRelated: Off-Skates Dates: Festival of Debate Film Screening and Panel (https://www.facebook.com/events/1521358964827247/)

SUMMARY:Exhibition of Illustrated Women in History
DESCRIPTION:Julie Gough is a graphic designer\, illustrator and art teacher based in Bristol. Her Illustrated Women in History series began after the news broke about a Jack the Ripper museum in London which was due to open. The museum had been granted permission to open in order to celebrate women in history\, and to have changed this to celebrate someone who brutally murdered women instead was outrageous. It made her think about how much she actually knew about women in history\, and apart from a few names she knew very little. So she decided that it was important to learn about some of the women that have contributed to\, and shaped our history and celebrate their achievements by illustrating them. \nShe will be exhibiting selected illustrations from the series at HOURS with a DJ set by FAN CLUB. Illustrated Women in History prints\, postcards and zines will be available as well as FAN CLUB zines. \nPublic Launch event April 9th 5-9 pm.\nPublic opening times: Sunday 10th April 10am-4pm and by arrangement\, until April 21st. Free

SUMMARY:Late at Tate Britain: My Bed
DESCRIPTION:April’s Late at Tate Britain is themed around Tracey Emin’s artwork My Bed. When this artwork was first exhibited in 1999 it caused a public outcry.  How could an unmade bed be art? There’s a soiled bedsheet with various bits and pieces scattered around including condoms\, dirty knickers\, empty vodka bottles and cigarette packets. Controversial like many of Emin’s works\,My Bed explores difficult themes like sexuality\, relationships and gender. And we will too\, through this exciting new programme. \nLaid Bare: A Zine Making Workshop\nThis drop-in workshop with artist Rudy Loewe invites you to create a zine exploring your own truths around gender and sexuality. \nRudy Loewe’s practice includes drawings\, comics\, illustrations and prints.  Loewe uses satire and comedy to explore a wide range of social issues including racism\, sexuality\, gender\, disability and mental health.

SUMMARY:Laydeez do Comics: March
DESCRIPTION:We welcome back Laydeez do Comics for their March meeting\, with guests Corrine Pearlman and One Beat Zines. \nLaydeez do Comics is a unique graphic novel forum with a focus on comic works based on life narrative\, the drama of the domestic and the everyday – and we’re delighted to be hosting their London sessions during our Comix Creatrix: 100 Women Making Comics exhibition. \nCorrine Pearlman is an illustrator\, comics creator\, and Creative Director of independent publisher Myriad Editions. She has produced editorial comics for charities\, a regular strip for the Jewish Quarterly\, and is a Partner in Comic Company\, which produces comics-illustrated health information. \nJulia Scheele and Sarah Broadhurst run One Beat Zines\, a London-based feminist zine-making collective and distributor that aims to distribute cheap-and-cheerful zines by people with something to say\, in a wide variety of forms including comics\, essays\, photography\, poetry\, fiction\, and collage. Find them on Twitter. \nThis is a free event but booking is essential – please email rsvp@houseofillustration.org.uk to reserve your place\, and keep an eye on our Twitter or subscribe to our e-newsletter for announcements of future Ladydeez do Comics events at House of Illustration. \nAttendees will also have the opportunity to see our current exhibition Comix Creatrix: 100 Women Making Comics for a special ticket price of £5\, payable on the night.
