SUMMARY:Zen & Zine: Creative Therapy for the Mind
DESCRIPTION:BOOK A PLACE HERE \nJoin this 2 hour ZINEing class and create something unique (tea and biscuits provided!). \nA zine\, short for magazine or fanzine\, is a self-published work that combines visuals and text in a unique\, often experimental format. Zines can be messy\, creative\, and deeply personal\, making them an ideal medium for expressing emotions\, experiences\, and thoughts. \nThis workshop will guide students in creating their own personal zines\, emphasising personal wellbeing in a safe\, supportive\, and friendly environment. By engaging in the process of zine-making\, participants can explore and articulate their feelings\, promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing. \nStudents will learn various techniques for combining images and words to tell their own stories. This process encourages self-reflection\, creativity\, and personal growth. The supportive atmosphere of the workshop ensures that everyone feels comfortable sharing and expressing themselves\, fostering a sense of community and connection. Students will create a personal zine that reflects their unique journey and emotions in a nurturing and inspiring setting. \nPARTICIPATION \nIf you have a disability or require any additional support to attend this session please contact manager@lairglearningcentre.org.uk to allow us to try and make adjustments for you to participate. \nF UNDER \nThis activity has been funded by the Highland Community Waste Partnership (HCWP)\, and has been created to fit in with The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF)\, which runs from 10 – 27 October 2024. \nThe Highland Community Waste Partnership focuses on reducing food waste; Textile waste; tackling single use items; and increasing the use of pre-loved\, repaired and shared goods. For more information on the project\, or this event\, please contact Heather Bruce\, Project Officer\, by emailing heather@lairglearningcentre.org.uk. \nYOUR DATA \nLairg & District Learning Centre will hold your details on our student data base. If you do not wish your details to be held please let us know by emailing manager@lairglearningcentre.org.uk.
