SUMMARY:Zine Club! Manchester with Shy Bairns
DESCRIPTION:Shy Bairns will be running a workshop using collage materials and a risograph printer\, aiming to create a collaborative zine loosely based around themes of community and local identity. \nShy Bairns is multi-disciplinary collective specialising in DIY arts publications. Their first publication in their self titled series\, The Only Pizza Shop Where I Live Burnt Down\, was released December 2016\, with a second\,Where’s Your Coat You’re Going To Be Cold\, following in April 2017. Both zines intended to gather northern creatives together on one platform\, creating a community regardless of medium\, level\, background or theme. Other past projects involve curated shows at Caustic Coastal\, Manchester and online @ isthisit.com\, alongside zine making workshops ran for Middlesbrough Art Weekender 2017. Shy Bairns usually print in muti-coloured riso unless they absolutely can not do that then will reluctantly roll their eyes and print like normies. Shy Bairns consists of Erin Blamire\, Izzy Kroese\, Georgia Gibson and Elle Haswell. All creatives involved can be found here. \n\nZine Club is a space where anyone can read\, make zines\, collaborate\, be shown what a zine is and how to make one\, work on an existing project\, or ask more seasoned zine-makers any practical questions. \nJust come and have a nice hang out and a chat with us! Zines to read and materials will be provided\, but feel free to bring along anything you might want to use or donate. \nAll welcome. Zine Club is FREE but donations will be very welcome to cover materials and to raise money for Partisan. DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re a seasoned zine-maker or a first timer come along to FOMA’s first zine making workshop and creative space \nZines can be on any subject\, using any materials. (we’ll post some pdfs in the page for you to see beforehand as well!) \nThis workshop is a welcoming space in which you can express yourself creatively as much (or as little) as you’d like. There will be an opportunity to share work and discuss it but there’s no pressure to do so if you’d prefer not to. \nSome materials will be provided\, as well as examples of zines for inspiration\, but we encourage you to bring your own projects along too. \nWe’ll be in FIKA from 3pm until closing time at 6pm\, everyone is welcome to drop in between then & stay for as long as they like. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an innovative programme of free events\, installations and special performances and celebrate the creativity of Jean-Michel Basquiat \n\n\n\n\nToo Young for What? provides opportunities to develop young people’s creativity and showcases a range of new work with and by young people from across east London and beyond. The day explores what Basquiat and his practice means to young and emerging artists through a range of art forms including music\, performance\, street art and poetry. \nHighlights include a talks programme SAMO©\, but different and ‘Make a Scene’ discussions co-curated by Poet in the City\, opportunities to explore zinemaking\, glitch art and photography and Basquiat inspired work by Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning’s community of young creatives\, including the Barbican Young Poets\, Young Programmers and Young Visual Arts Group. \nYoung Barbican members can pre-book entry to our major art exhibition\nBasquiat: Boom for Real for just £5 (usually £16). \n12noon–6pm \nZine making and collage art \nCut\, copy\, paste and create a zine inspired by collaboration and low-fi making culture \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Zine making workshop
DESCRIPTION:A zine is a DIY created publication for self-expression. It can be about anything you want\, like personal experiences and stories\, drawings\, poems\, photography\, music\, films… health\, travel\, cats\, food… Zines can be put together by one person or a group of people and are often photocopied in black & white and stapled. \nIn this zine making workshop\, with zinester Julius Smit\, we will make a collaborative zine using cut and paste\, writing\, drawing\, rubber stamp lettering\, typewriter. Each participant will be able to take away their own copy of the completed zine at the end of the workshop. \nAlthough basic materials are provided\, participants are encouraged to bring along any art\, photographs\, writing\, poetry they would like to include in the zine. \nThe DC3 Workshop Space is a comfortable place to work in and tea/coffee\, chocolates and biscuits will be on offer!

DESCRIPTION:Bristol Comic and Zine Fair celebrates the world of DIY and independent publishing. \nThe fair brings together artists\, writers\, and publishers from across Bristol and further afield for a one-day market. 2017 will be our 7th year. \nBCZF was established in 2011 to give artists interested in self-publishing a chance to sell their work and to invite new audiences to see what the UK’s vibrant DIY arts scene is up to. \nBCZF 2017 returns to The Station\, Broadmead\, a city-centre space run by The Creative Youth Network to provide a place for young people to meet\, develop their talent\, and get advice and support.
