SUMMARY:The Recovery: exhibition and zine launch
DESCRIPTION:Having previously questioned perceptions of print media with her screenprints in the style of mock newspaper front-pages\, for the latest iteration of The Recovery\, Emily turned to the the zine format. Partly in response to the significant community archive of independently published zines of the Forgotten Zine Archive at A4 Studios\, she created a series of The Recovery zines. The launch event will also feature a curated selection of political zines from the Forgotten Zine Archive\, as well as a hands-on zine-making workshop facilitated by Emily McGardle and Tom Maher of the Forgotten Zine Archive on Saturday 11th February\, from 12 -5pm. \nThe event will begin with readings from selected zines\, including from The Recovery\, with a relaxed and informal panel discussion to follow. We’ve also brought together a number of artists\, performers and commentators who will on the night present their own responses to The Recovery\, and to the state of Irish politics\, news and media – and through our conversations and discussions\, we hope to tease out ways we can tackle shortcomings in these. \nWe’ll have discussion and responses from Lois Kapila (editor\, Dublin Inquirer)\, Dave Lordan (poet\, performer\, editor Bogman’s Cannon)\, Tom Maher (librarian\, curator Forgotten Zine Archive) and Jessamyn Fairfield (comedian\, scientist). \n  \nExhibition Opening & Zine Launch\nFriday 10th February\n6.30pm – 10.00pm \nDiscussion & Responses from\nEmily McGardle (Artist)\nLois Kapila (Editor\, Dublin Inquirer)\nDave Lordan (Poet\, Performer\, Editor Bogman’s Cannon)\nTom Maher (Librarian\, Curator Forgotten Zine Archive)\nJessamyn Fairfield (Comedian\, Scientist). \nZine-making Workshop\nSaturday 11th February\n12pm – 5pm

DESCRIPTION:Join us to mark the launch of the zine\, celebrate female creativity and raise funds for a worthy cause!\nAlong with the opportunity to mingle with some creative\, like-minded people\, come along to pick up a copy of the zine\, enter our (rather incredible) raffle\, jazz up your nails (if you fancy) and eat cake – all in the name of celebrating creativity\, and raising funds for Inkwell Arts along the way. \nFeaturing a pop-up bar from Archie’s Bar and Kitchen – with 50p from all drinks going towards our Inkwell funraising pot! \nAbout the Kvinde Zine\nThe zine looks at the many different facets of female creativity\, and features a moving photo essay\, a hard-hitting piece on the very meaning of feminism\, as well as some incredible illustration work and lighter narrative pieces. In short\, we’re celebrating female creativity\, with the end goal of raising money for a very worthy cause. \nAbout Inkwell Arts\nInkwell Arts is a safe\, dedicated arts space that enriches lives through creativity\, and promoting positive mental health. The entire project is charity-run\, and relies on help from Leeds Mind to offer a creative shelter to those in the community that need it most. \nFAQs\nWhere can I contact the organizer with any questions? \nFeel free to email us at hello@kvinde.co.uk. \nDo I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? \nIf possible\, yes please! Tickets on the Eventbrite app or shown to us on an email are more than fine too. \nWhat is the refund policy? \nAs this is a charity fundrasining event\, we can’t offer refunds. If you do find yourself unable to make the event after purchasing a ticket\, please do still get in touch – we can look at posting you a copy of the zine\, and reallocating your space to someone else as our venue capacity is very limited.
