SUMMARY:Process! Festival
DESCRIPTION:As part of Print! Tearing It Up\, Somerset House and Somerset House Studios residents OOMK\, present PROCESS!\, a two day festival celebrating independent media and making\, bringing together established and emerging designers\, artists\, activists and publishers to explore\, interrogate and share approaches to creative and collaborative process. In the context of high speed media and access to infinite information\, how do we create time\, space and approaches that can enable us to process the social and political climate and create new media and outputs? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSomerset House Studio artists OOMK co-curate this unique weekend\, including a programme of talks\, workshops and installations alongside a zine fair. Each strand will highlight different processes behind organising\, designing and publishing\, whilst consciously considering developments in interdependent industry\, digital reach and opportunities for international relations. \nStay tuned for the full announcement of exhibitor stalls\, talks\, workshops and the celebratory closing party to come. \nPlease be aware that some artworks and opinions expressed may not be suitable for young children. \nOne of My Kind (OOMK) is a collaborative publishing practice led by Rose Nordin\, Sofia Niazi and Heiba Lamara. Working together since 2014\, OOMK make\, publish and distribute books and printed works which arise from self-initiated projects. OOMK also commission new works by women artists and co-curate DIY Cultures\, one of the UK’s largest annual independent publishing fairs. With a focus on self-publishing and education\, OOMK founded and run a community Risograph printing press in East London\,  Rabbits Road Press. OOMK are currently residents at Somerset House Studios. \nOOMK Zine is a highly visual\, handcrafted small-press publication. Printed biannually\, its content pivots upon the imaginations\, creativity and spirituality of women. Each issue centres around a different creative theme\, with more general content exploring topics of faith\, activism and identity.

SUMMARY:Northwest Zinefest 2018
DESCRIPTION:After a year off\, Northwest Zinefest is back! This time we’re going to be at Partisan Collective\, an independent\, community led\, DIY space on Cheetham Hill Road in Manchester. It’s going to be on Sunday May 6th\, so get it pencilled in your diaries (or wherever you keep track of your appointments) now. \nWe’re planning to have about 40 tables selling ace zines made by ace people. You could even be one of those ace people – applications for stalls are open NOW. Just go here to find out more about the application process: https://northwestzinefest.wordpress.com/ \nThis year we’re trying something new to make things easier for people who identify as either LBGTQIA and/or have other accessibility barriers which make paying for a table a barrier to being a stallholder. Check out the application form for info on how to claim a free half table at the zinefest. Thanks very much to those people who have donated money to Salford Zine Library and made this scheme possible! \nEntry to Northwest Zinefest is free and we’ll also have a whole programme of talks and workshops for you to enjoy. We’ll share more details soon. In the meantime\, apply for a table and/or tell your friends because this is gonna be a good one.

SUMMARY:Bristol Comic & Zine Fair 2017
DESCRIPTION:Bristol Comic and Zine Fair celebrates the world of DIY and independent publishing. \nThe fair brings together artists\, writers\, and publishers from across Bristol and further afield for a one-day market. 2017 will be our 7th year. \nBCZF was established in 2011 to give artists interested in self-publishing a chance to sell their work and to invite new audiences to see what the UK’s vibrant DIY arts scene is up to. \nBCZF 2017 returns to The Station\, Broadmead\, a city-centre space run by The Creative Youth Network to provide a place for young people to meet\, develop their talent\, and get advice and support.
