DESCRIPTION:After a year off\, Northwest Zinefest is back! This time we’re going to be at Partisan Collective\, an independent\, community led\, DIY space on Cheetham Hill Road in Manchester. It’s going to be on Sunday May 6th\, so get it pencilled in your diaries (or wherever you keep track of your appointments) now. \nWe’re planning to have about 40 tables selling ace zines made by ace people. You could even be one of those ace people – applications for stalls are open NOW. Just go here to find out more about the application process: https://northwestzinefest.wordpress.com/ \nThis year we’re trying something new to make things easier for people who identify as either LBGTQIA and/or have other accessibility barriers which make paying for a table a barrier to being a stallholder. Check out the application form for info on how to claim a free half table at the zinefest. Thanks very much to those people who have donated money to Salford Zine Library and made this scheme possible! \nEntry to Northwest Zinefest is free and we’ll also have a whole programme of talks and workshops for you to enjoy. We’ll share more details soon. In the meantime\, apply for a table and/or tell your friends because this is gonna be a good one.

DESCRIPTION:Swansea Zine Fest\, an event to celebrate fanzines and DIY self-publishing\, will be held at Volcano Swansea on Saturday 19th May 2018 from 12pm – 5pm! \nA zine (pronounced “zeen\,” as in “maga-zine”) is a self-published\, small circulation\, non-commercial booklet or magazine\, usually produced by one person or a few individuals. Zines can include personal essays\, political discussions\, fiction\, do-it-yourself tips\, articles about music or movies\, comics\, poetry\, reviews – anything under the sun! Zines are personal and idiosyncratic. A zinester is a person who makes zines. \nCome along to buy and swap zines and DIY publications from a range of zinesters and creators from Swansea and further afield. We will also beholding some zine readings\, craft space\, free zine giveaways\, and a chance to make your own zine! \n· Free entry\n· Fully accessible venue\n· Open to all \nYou can also follow us on twitter @ SwanseaZineFest ! \nWe will be collecting donations on the day to cover the venue hire cost\, and all additional funds will be donated to Discovery\, a Swansea-based charity that enriches the lives of the people in Swansea through volunteering. www.discoverySVS.org \n—\nOPEN CALL FOR TABLERS / STALL-HOLDERS \nZinesters\, zine-makers\, small press poets and writers\,\nindie comics\, DIYers – apply for a table at the event and become part of Swansea’s very first Zine Fest! \nZine-makers and DIY publishers of any type are invited to have a table at the event to sell their publications\, at a cost of £7 for the afternoon. \nTo apply for a table\, please complete the online form:https://goo.gl/forms/r3uN0T5VeWMzMAem1 \nThe deadline for applications is 28th February 2018. \nIf you have any questions\, please get in touch at swanseazinefest@gmail.com! \n— \nTRAVEL INFORMATION \nBY TRAIN: Swansea train station is a 3-minute walk from Volcano; upon exiting the train station\, continue down High Street (past The Grand Hotel)\, and Volcano will be on your right. \nBY BUS/COACH: Swansea Bus Station is in the Quadrant Shopping Centre\, and is a 13-16 minute walk from Volcano. \nBY CAR: there are a number of car parks in the city centre\, the closest being the NCP multi-storey on Orchard Street\, a 2 minute walk from Volcano (we recommend pre-booking as this will be cheaper than paying on the day: https://www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/swansea-orchard-street/). There is also a large free car park in Park Tawe Retail Park\, which is an 8-10 minute walk from Volcano (NB: maximum 4 hour stay in Park Tawe car park). \n— \nAMENITIES \nVolcano has accessible bathrooms in the room adjacent to where the zine fest will be taking place. \nVolcano will be selling hot and cold drinks and snacks throughout the day. \nThere are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants along High Street if you want to get food and drinks elsewhere\, and if you head into Swansea city centre there are loads of fast food outlets\, shops\, restaurants\, and coffee shops. \nThere are also a few cash machines along High Street. \n— \nACCESSIBILITY \nThe event will be held on the ground floor of Volcano Theatre\, is fully wheelchair accessible\, and has a disabled toilet. Please note however that some content on sale and in the zine readings may not be appropriate for children so they should be supervised.
