DESCRIPTION:Bristol Comic and Zine Fair celebrates the world of DIY and independent publishing. \nThe fair brings together artists\, writers\, and publishers from across Bristol and further afield for a one-day market. 2017 will be our 7th year. \nBCZF was established in 2011 to give artists interested in self-publishing a chance to sell their work and to invite new audiences to see what the UK’s vibrant DIY arts scene is up to. \nBCZF 2017 returns to The Station\, Broadmead\, a city-centre space run by The Creative Youth Network to provide a place for young people to meet\, develop their talent\, and get advice and support.

SUMMARY:Grrrl Queer Nightlife Zine Fair\, Panel Discussion & Screenings
DESCRIPTION:As part of Light After Dark\, an exhibtion celebrating past\, present and future queer nightlife of London\, Grrrl Zine Fair is hosting a feminist\, queer zine fair and DIY art market\, film screenings and a panel discussion on Sunday 15th October. \nCurated by Kat Hudson and hosted by Sutton house (National Trust’s 15th Centurary\, oldest domesticity in East London!) Light After Dark explores the trends and topics that surround the club scene today\, remembering lost venues and the history of club culture in London\, whilst also championing campaigns to save those currently under threat. \nThrough photography\, film\, fashion\, artworks\, writing\, and public debate\, the exhibition will discuss sociological and political issues surrounding queer London\, including gender and sexual identity\, subculture\, social acceptance\, gentrification and what the future holds for us in the changing face of our capital city. \n?????????????????? \n11 AM – 6 PM : Queer Zine and Art Fair. \n1 PM – 2.00 PM : Panel Discussion On The Documentation And Preservation Of Queer Nightlife.\nFollowed by a Q&A. \nPanelists : \n☺️ Charlotte Sykes\nCharlotte DJs\, has been involved in campaigning against the closure of Venues in london and is part of the female & non-binary DJ collective SIREN who throw queer parites promoting women and non-binary artists. \n☺️ Otamere Guobadia\nOtamere is one of the featured artists in Light After Dark\, the former president of Oxford Universitys LGBTQ Society has writen for Dazed\, The Independent\, HISKIND and Huck magazine. For the exhibtion\, Otamere’s essay ‘The Price of Admission: On Queer Nightlife And Those Who Are Left Behind’ will be on display. \n☺️ Tom Rasmussen\nTom is a freelance journalist\, contributing editor at i-D and LOVE Magazine\, and editor and co-founder of Cause & Effect. Their work focuses on queer culture and class politics. They perform in drag band Denim and queer performance duo ACM. \nChaired by Kat Hudson. \n2-3PM : Archival Zine Making Workshop \nThis participatory workshop invites you to rediscover hidden histories from the LGBTQ community in The National Archives collections. Using facsimiles of our records this session will enable you to great creative with archival material; from love letters between men that were intended to be destroyed\, to items seized as evidence from queer clubs and drag dances in the 1930s. Presented by Vicky Iglikowski\, a Diverse Histories Records Specialist at The National Archives. \n3-4PM : Artist Screenings from Angel Rose \n4:30-6 PM : Screening of Paris Is Burning\, 1990. \nParis Is Burning is a 1990 American documentary directed by Jennie Livingston. When you come out of Hackney Central station\, immediately cross the road at the traffic lights\, turn right\, then very shortly left\, down the pedestrianized Narrow Way towards the big stone clock tower. Cross over the road again when you reach the tower and you will be in St John’s Churchyard Gardens. Keep going straight on\, following the Walled Garden Walk. You will see black signs pointing towards Sutton House. At the boundary of the Gardens carry straight on down the road in front of you\, Sutton Place. Turn right at the end of the road and you’ll see Sutton House ahead\, at the very beginning of Homerton High Street. \nBy cycle – NCN1\, 1¼ miles \nBy road – Parking: no onsite parking.
