SUMMARY:Beaumont Leys Library Zine Making Workshop for kids
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop your child will learn a little bit about the history of zines and why people make them. Zines are great ways of capturing the coolest things you can think of and sharing them with people! Leicester Zine Library will have a family friendly selection of their catalogue available for visitors and workshop participants to read to get your creative juices flowing! \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThey will learn how to construct three of their very own publications using these different methods: \n\nA simple folding technique that produces a nifty little A7 zine.\nA method that utilises the long-arm stapler to produce larger zines with more pages.\nA simple book-binding technique using an awl and thread.\n\nAll materials are provided by us\, but we encourage you to bring along your own stickers/magazines/craft paper to make your Zine extra special! \n  \nThis is also a chance to gain an Arts Award Discover! Arts Award Discover is an introductory award\, designed for ages 5 and above\, but is open to children and young people aged 25 and under\, certificated by Trinity College London\, and is not a regulated qualification. \n  \nBy taking part in the workshop your child will end up with some fantastic Zines that they have made\, and we will also send them an Arts Award certificate in the post that will prove what a great Zine making expert they are! \n  \nThese workshops are supported by an Arts Council England grant\, in partnership with Leicester Libraries.

SUMMARY:Free Queer Feminist Zine Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Book event here \nThis workshop is open to everyone (although we do have an age guidance of 14+ due to some of the content we may explore in the workshop). \nIn the 2 hours we have together\, we aim to create a safe space where those participating can choose to explore and express their experiences through the art of zine making. Absolutely no previous experience in zine making necessary and you have the power to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. The most important thing here is having fun! \nSome possible topics we may discuss: C/W – sexual harassment\, times when you’ve felt uncomfortable in the workspace/at school\, things you’ve witnessed as a bystander etc. \nThis workshop is part of the research and development phase of Powersuit Collectives new theatre show. There may be someone at the workshop taking pictures and/or video recordings. As this is YOUR space we will never share images of you without your permission. Please let us know at the workshop if you would not like us to share your image on our socials or if you have any questions please drop us a line at powersuitcollective@gmail.com \nAll materials will be included. \nThe venue where the workshop will be held is wheelchair accessible. \nAbout us: \nGrrrl Zine Fair – Lu Williams They/She \nLu Williams creates cross disciplinary artworks\, social practice\, events and printer matter with a focus on accessibility\, labour\, DIY culture\, intersectional feminism and personal experience of queerness and working class culture. They founded Grrrl Zine Fair in 2015. \nGrrrl Zine Fair platforms women\, transgender and non-binary artists and makers and is comprised of a self-publishing fair\, panel talks\, performances\, live music\, exhibitions and workshops curated by artist Lu Williams. \nPowersuit Collective \nPowersuit Collective is a feminist\, queer group of cis women who create thoughtful and empowering pieces of art and performance theatre based in Oxfordshire.
