Risographic Zine Workshop with Katie Guthrie

Free taster workshop with Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums at Seventeen

No previous printing experience necessary. Age 13 +

This workshop will allow participants to learn how to design and print a DIY Fanzine for a real or imagined band using the versatile Risographic print technique. Seventeen was previously One Up Records, a much loved part of the Aberdeen music scene and the perfect venue to host Record Store, an exhibition featuring 36 Scottish artists who have created 12“records for their own fictional bands, displayed along with 7” singles, posters and merchandise.

Participants can bring something with them like a favourite ‘album’, ‘CD’ or ‘cassette tape’ cover or use the Record Store exhibition as inspiration.

Zine Workshop with HATCH

The workshop will teach people how to make a small eight-page A7 zine, which can be folded out to display a large two-colour screenprinted A4 poster based on a number of preset designs. Participant will choose from a selection of papers, print a poster onto one side, then fold and cut the poster so that it can be folded down into a zine, the topic of which can be anything they want. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a good beginner’s knowledge on what goes into screenprinting and its advantages and disadvantages, as well as a one-off unique zine/poster which they can take home and display.

Who is it suitable for – ages 16-25 years
